First, raw material selection
The manufacture of large-diameter seamless steel pipes first requires the selection of suitable raw materials. Usually, the raw material of seamless steel pipes is steel ingots, and its quality directly determines the quality of the finished product. Therefore, when selecting steel ingots, their chemical composition, impurity content, internal structure, and surface quality need to be strictly tested. In addition, in order to meet the manufacturing requirements of large-diameter seamless steel pipes, steel ingots with sufficient diameter and length need to be selected.


Second, heating and rolling
After the raw materials are prepared, they need to be heated and rolled. The purpose of heating is to soften the steel ingot for easy rolling. Rolling is to roll the heated steel ingot into the shape of a seamless steel pipe. This process requires multiple passes of rolling, and each rolling requires precise control of temperature, rolling force, and deformation to ensure the shape and dimensional accuracy of the steel pipe. At the same time, in order to meet the manufacturing requirements of large-diameter seamless steel pipes, large rolling mills are also required for rolling.


Third, sizing and reducing the diameter
After rolling is completed, sizing and reducing diameter are required. Sizing is to ensure that the outer diameter and wall thickness of the steel pipe meet the requirements while reducing diameter is to reduce the inner diameter of the steel pipe to the required specifications. In this process, high-precision sizing machines and reducing machines are required, and the temperature and deformation are precisely controlled to ensure the shape and dimensional accuracy of the steel pipe.


Fourth, heat treatment
After sizing and reducing the diameter, heat treatment is required. Heat treatment is to adjust the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the steel pipe. This process requires long-term treatment at high temperatures to change the crystal structure inside the steel pipe and improve its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. At the same time, in order to meet the manufacturing requirements of large-diameter seamless steel pipes, large-scale heat treatment furnaces are also required for heat treatment.


Fifth, non-destructive testing
After the heat treatment is completed, non-destructive testing of large-diameter seamless steel pipes is required. Nondestructive testing is to ensure that the quality of the steel pipe meets the requirements and does not contain defects such as internal cracks, bubbles, inclusions, etc. In this process, nondestructive testing technologies such as ultrasonic testing and radiographic testing are needed to conduct comprehensive testing of the steel pipe to ensure that its quality meets the requirements.
